Overview

Gecko Studio is a music practice app for macOS. We believe your data is yours. The app processes everything locally on your Mac — nothing is sent to external servers.

What Gecko accesses

• Microphone (optional) — to record your instrument while playing along to a song. The app works fully without microphone access; recording your own performance is the only feature that requires it.
• Camera — to record practice videos.
• System audio — to capture audio playing on your Mac and separate it into stems, using Apple's CATapDescription API (macOS 14.4+).
• Files — to open and save Gecko project files you select.

Data storage

All data — audio recordings, practice videos, and project files — is stored locally on your Mac. Gecko Studio does not upload, transmit, or share any data with external servers.

Analytics & crash reports

Gecko Studio does not collect analytics, usage statistics, or crash reports of any kind.

Third-party services

Gecko Studio does not use any third-party SDKs, advertising networks, or external services.

Children's privacy

Gecko Studio does not knowingly collect any information from children.
