Last updated: May 2, 2026
The short version: Gecko Tuner does not collect, store, or transmit any personal data. All audio processing happens entirely on your device.
Overview
Gecko Tuner is a chromatic tuner for iPhone, iPad, and Mac. It is available as a standalone app and as an AUv3 Audio Unit plugin for use in compatible hosts such as Logic Pro and GarageBand.
This Privacy Policy explains what information Gecko Tuner does and does not collect, and how your data is handled.
Data We Do Not Collect
Gecko Tuner does not collect any personal information. Specifically:
- No audio recordings are stored or transmitted
- No usage analytics or telemetry are collected
- No account registration is required
- No identifiers (advertising ID, device ID, etc.) are collected
- No data is shared with third parties
- No internet connection is required or used
Microphone Access
Gecko Tuner requests access to your microphone solely to capture audio for real-time pitch detection. The microphone signal is processed entirely on-device and is never recorded, stored, or sent anywhere. Audio is used only to determine the pitch of the incoming signal and is discarded immediately after processing.
App Settings
Gecko Tuner stores your preferences (such as selected instrument, tuning, and reference pitch) locally on your device using standard system storage. This data never leaves your device.
Apple Frameworks
Gecko Tuner is built using Apple's standard frameworks (AVFoundation, AudioUnit, Metal). These frameworks may be subject to Apple's own privacy policy, which you can review at apple.com/legal/privacy.
Children's Privacy
Gecko Tuner does not collect any personal information from anyone, including children under the age of 13.
Changes to This Policy
If this privacy policy changes in any meaningful way, the updated version will be published at this URL with a new date. Since no data is collected, changes are unlikely.
